Once you decide to get photos - for a proposal, engagement or to just celebrate your relationship - the first question we’ll need to answer together is where we’ll do the shoot.

Washington is so amazingly stunning that it can be hard to pick a location for your photoshoot, so I’ve put together a few thought starters for you below.

let's do this thing!

I'm Allison, your Washington couples photographer

My goal is to bring the beauty of Washington landscapes and relationships together. I want your photos to make you feel the same way your partner makes you feel. I want you to just gasp and feel giddy and cry in disbelief that you made it to this day. I am here to help you tell your story in your own experience, without any outside influences or inputs.

Go back to where it all started.

Several of my favorite shoots were at the location of the couple’s first date, where they met, or how they started to fall in love. Whether this is a college campus, a trail in the woods, or on a camping trip, visiting that spot (or a similar one if the actual location is too far away) can bring back those honeymoon feelings that y’all had at the beginning of your relationship.

Two of my dear friends met on the UW campus their freshman year of college, so it was only natural to shoot their engagement photos there. They got to wander around the space where they fell in love, and that emotion showed in their photos as well.

Think about how you like to spend time together.

Do you have a shared hobby or something you like to do together? I had a couple who loves walking on the beach together and have spent countless hours looking at rocks, so we went to the coast for their shoot.

I had another couple who will often visit a park and read and crochet (when the weather allows). So we set up a cute spot and they got to do one of their favorite things, and get super cute photos that mean so much more to them than a picture of them smiling at a camera.

Journey somewhere you both want to visit.

Is there a kind of landscape you both love? Somewhere you have both been meaning to visit but just haven’t had the time (or reason) yet? A couples shoot is the perfect excuse to go on that mini-adventure! Only ever seen Artist Point in the snow? Let’s go take stunning photos with the wildflowers in August. Do you both have a thing for waterfalls but have never seen Whatcom Falls? Perfect!

Take a few minutes to think about these prompts, and you’ll feel even more stoked with your photos when the setting is special to y’all.

I'll find the perfect spot for you.

There’s a ton more things to consider when choosing a photoshoot location - are you willing to travel, how much privacy do you want, do you have any mobility limitations - and it can seem super overwhelming.

But that’s why I’m here! I have an extensive catalog of locations all around the state that fit different requirements. I have my couples fill out a quick survey and then I’ll give you a personalized recommendation guide!
