Anabel and Dash had just gotten engaged when they started to plan their Bellingham elopement—for the next month.
After ten years together, they were spending the summer in Dash’s hometown of Bellingham, before returning to Spain. A big, traditional wedding was planned for later back home, but there was one problem—Dash’s parents wouldn’t be able to make the trip. So, in just 30 days, they set out to create a day that honored both their families and felt true to them.

When they shared their story with me, I knew I wanted to help in any way I could. I’m always here for couples who want to embrace spontaneity (read more about how to elope quickly in Washington). After all, if you know what you want, why wait? So we set a date and started planning their Bellingham elopement.
A Misty Bellingham Elopement
During her time in Washington, Anabel had fallen in love with the landscape and wanted photos that captured the true essence of Bellingham. So when their elopement day arrived cloudy and fogged in—not at all typical for an August afternoon—she was thrilled.

This wasn’t just about bringing Dash’s family into the experience. Anabel made sure hers was present in spirit too—she wore a top handmade by her mother, a beautiful and meaningful detail woven into the day.
A Backyard Wedding Reception
After getting lost in the woods and in each other’s eyes, we made our way to Dash’s parents’ home off of Chuckanut Drive for an intimate backyard reception. Splitting up the day like this is a great option for couples who want private, adventurous moments while still celebrating with loved ones.

They had a short ceremony outside and Dash’s mom shared a heartfelt poem she had written about their love. The evening ended in the best way possible—surrounded by friends, family, and even a few beloved pets.
